Welcome!
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce (or perhaps re-introduce) myself. My name is Andrea Countess, and I am one of three English teachers at the high school. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Communications from Western Michigan University as well as a Master in the Art of Teaching degree from Marygrove College. With this being my 16th year at BHS, I am currently teaching English 10 and English 12. Along with teaching, I am also an English/Language Arts department head for the high school and involved with the Drama Club.
My husband, Todd, and I have been married for 11 years, but we have been together for a total of almost 19. We have two daughters, Hayden, who is almost five, and Addison, who is 8½. It’s exciting to see them grow up: Hayden is excited to start school this fall and play soccer again, while Addie is excited to be in third grade and take guitar lessons. We had quite a busy summer! We have been to t-ball and softball games and All-Star tournaments, YMCA camps, PIM gymnastics camps, cooking classes, the beach, the pool, a few lakes, the carrousel, a few concerts, a few Cubs games, and my husband and I vacationed in Key West.

During my spare time, I like to go to the pool, go for a run, and enjoy just sitting on our deck relaxing with friends and family. My husband and I love great television and have been trying new series often. I also enjoy reading (I try to read for pleasure all year, but I tend to catch up during the summer months), singing, running, and working out. I ran a few 5K and 10k races over the past year, and I will run my third half marathon in November. Most of the time, I consider myself a fairly healthy person; however, I can’t resist cookies, Mexican food, ANY kind of potato, and a good cheeseburger. I also fancy flamingos and have acquired quite a classroom collection. :)
